During 2020, the Czech Nanotechnology Industries Association carried out the project “Nanotechnology for Smart Cities as a Tool for Sustainable Development”, supported by funding from the Czech Development Agency.

The aim was to develop a concept of a smart city built from Czech nanotechnologies available in the Czech Republic. This was preceded by a mapping of the Czech nanotechnology market and the creation of the first public database of nanotechnology solutions in the Czech Republic. You can find the database at this link. The database will be updated regularly, so if you follow the development of Czech nanotechnologies over the long term, we recommend bookmarking it.

Smart Cities

The smart city concept encompasses several categories:

The project was developed with a view to assisting the priority countries of Czech development cooperation, namely: Moldova, Georgia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zambia, Cambodia and Ethiopia.

Video about Smart Cities

This 20-minute video presents the most interesting Czech nanotechnologies that fall within the smart city concept. In the video, their originators (inventors) explain how the technologies work and where they are already in common use.

The video is available in Czech with English subtitles. It is therefore an excellent gateway to discovering Czech nanotechnologies, not only for those interested in the Czech Republic but from all over the world.

Webinar with the project outputs

Owing to the coronavirus situation, we were unable to hold an offline seminar for selected stakeholders. We therefore opted for an online webinar, which we are making publicly available for everyone to view. The webinar summarises all the project outputs.

All the project outputs

This web presentation was created as part of the project Nanotechnology for Smart Cities as a Tool for Sustainable Development, supported within the framework of the Czech Republic’s foreign development cooperation.
