Bavarian-Czech Nanotechnology Center Continues with Meeting in Selb

Prague/Selb, 21 September 2026 – The next joint meeting of the Bavarian-Czech Nanotechnology Center (BYCZ10-275) will take place on 22 September 2026 in Selb, Bavaria. Following the project’s kick-off meeting in Domažlice in June, Czech and German partners will meet this time at the European Center for Dispersion Technologies (EZD), which also hosts the Bavarian project office established earlier this year.

The meeting will be opened by Lukáš Opatrný, Consul of the Czech Republic in Munich. This will be followed by presentations from Czech and German participants introducing their companies, research activities, technological expertise, and potential areas for future cooperation. The programme will also include technical visits to EZD and NETZSCH.

The Bavarian-Czech Nanotechnology Center is implemented within the Interreg Bavaria–Czechia 2021–2027 programme. The lead partner is the Bavarian network Nanonetz Bayern e.V., with the Czech Nanotechnology Industries Association as the Czech project partner. The project started on 1 March 2026 and is planned to run for 34 months. Its aim is to establish a sustainable cross-border network connecting companies, research organisations, and other institutions active in nanotechnology, advanced materials, and related fields.

From Domažlice to Selb

The first joint project meeting took place in Domažlice on 17 June 2026, bringing together representatives of Czech and German companies, research institutions, and organisations supporting innovation. Participants included, among others, HF Servis, IQS Group, NanoTrade, Advanced Materials-JTJ, nanoSPACE, NETZSCH Gerätebau, NETZSCH Feinmahltechnik, Iris Biotech, Sigmund Lindner, and FutureCarbon, as well as EZD and Chemnitz University of Technology.

While the initial meeting in Domažlice focused primarily on introducing the partners and establishing the framework for cooperation, the meeting in Selb will also provide participants with an opportunity to explore specific research and industrial facilities on the Bavarian side of the border.

An important location for the implementation of the project is the European Center for Dispersion Technologies (EZD) in Selb, where the project office of the Bavarian-Czech Nanotechnology Center was opened in April 2026. EZD specialises in dispersion technologies, which also play an important role in the practical application of nanomaterials. The project office serves as a contact point for companies and research organisations interested in joining the emerging cross-border network.

The second part of the technical programme will take participants to NETZSCH. Selb is the historic birthplace and headquarters of the NETZSCH Group and remains home to several of its key activities, including analytical and testing technologies as well as grinding and dispersion technologies. The company is also developing its new NETZSCH Campus in Selb, with a strong focus on innovation, energy efficiency, and sustainability.

Building Connections Beyond the Formal Programme

The project is not limited to organising technical workshops and formal meetings. One of its main ambitions is to establish lasting personal and professional links between Czech and Bavarian companies and research organisations and to facilitate new joint projects, technology transfer, and the implementation of research results in industrial practice.

The project focuses particularly on the cross-border regions – Upper Franconia, Upper Palatinate, and Lower Bavaria on the German side, and the Karlovy Vary, Pilsen, and South Bohemian regions on the Czech side.

For this reason, the technical programme in Selb will be followed in the evening by the first of a series of planned informal Stammtisch networking meetings. These meetings are intended to provide space for more informal discussions, networking, and exploring potential cooperation beyond the framework of official project meetings. Regular personal contacts and a better understanding of the expertise available on both sides of the border are expected to gradually build the foundations of a sustainable Bavarian-Czech nanotechnology community.

The project builds on the strong position of both regions in nanotechnology and advanced materials. Its objective is not merely to create another temporary project platform, but to connect existing companies, research capacities, and technology centres in a way that enables new partnerships and cooperation to continue beyond the lifetime of the project.
