Since 2006, the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs has provided financial support for the creation of networks and for collaboration between companies and research institutions, with the aim of strengthening innovative capacity and competitiveness in Bavaria.

The Bavarian Cluster Offensive

The Bavarian Cluster Offensive comprises 17 clusters, including the nanotechnology cluster Nanoiniziative Bayern. In the current, fifth funding period of the Cluster Offensive, which begins in 2024, attention is focused primarily on the transformation of the economy through digitalisation and on sustainability requirements.

Nanoinitiative Bayern

The Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs, Hubert Aiwanger, invited representatives of the Czech Nanotechnology Industries Association to a cluster reception, which took place on 5 February 2024 at the Munich Residenz. The invitation came in recognition of the successful collaboration with the Bavarian nanotechnology cluster Nanoinitiative Bayern, which began in 2018. Since then, a wide range of joint events has taken place in both the Czech Republic and Bavaria. Together with Nanoinitiative Bayern and the European Nanotechnology Industries Association, the project Nano NOW, an online nanotechnology course for the general public, was also created.

The Czech-German NanoHub

The latest joint project being prepared by the Czech Nanotechnology Industries Association and Nanoinitiative Bayern is the Czech-German NanoHub innovation network. It will bring together Czech and Bavarian companies, with the goal of providing specialist expertise in the development of new nanotechnology products and their commercialisation on both the Czech and German markets.
