Jean-Charles Chen Appointed New CEO of TESCAN

Chen takes the helm at TESCAN with extensive industry experience and vision, set to drive innovation and expansion in the global microscopy market

Brno, Czech Republic – 5 May 2023 – TESCAN ORSAY HOLDING a.s. announces that, as of 1 May, Jean-Charles Chen has become its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Chen succeeds TESCAN founder and CEO Jaroslav Klíma, who will continue in an advisory role.

Jaroslav Klíma comments: „Jean-Charles Chen is a renowned leader with a highly successful track record in transforming businesses to achieve profitability and international success. I have complete confidence in his ability to lead TESCAN as I step back into an advisory role. Jean-Charles Chen will focus on the company’s global growth in key world regions and on strengthening our product portfolio in areas such as scanning electron microscopy, focused ion beam instruments, transmission electron microscopy and microtomography.

Jean-Charles Chen joins TESCAN from the Swiss company OROLIA, where he led the atomic clocks business division. He is a highly experienced business manager with a proven ability to run international organisations and teams. His broad experience spans business strategy and planning, innovation management, sales and international trade, business development and the leadership of cross-functional teams across a range of industries, including scientific instruments, electronics and satellite communications.

Chen previously led OROLIA’s atomic clocks business division. Before that, he held positions as manager and Vice President of Sales and Service at CAMECA, part of the AMETEK group, and as Head of Sales at Thales Electron Devices. Chen holds master’s degrees in business management and business strategy from IAE France and the Institut Francais de Gestion.
