Nov\u00e9 bioreaktory vyu\u017e\u00edvaj\u00ed propustnou membr\u00e1nu s\u00a0nanop\u00f3ry a specificky uspo\u0159\u00e1dan\u00e9 mikrokan\u00e1lky. Pr\u00e1v\u011b proto, \u017ee neobsahuje \u017eiv\u00e9 bu\u0148ky, nen\u00ed za\u0159\u00edzen\u00ed n\u00e1ro\u010dn\u00e9 na provozn\u00ed podm\u00ednky. Lze s\u00a0n\u00edm vyr\u00e1b\u011bt proteiny na velmi odlehl\u00fdch m\u00edstech, na boji\u0161t\u00edch nebo v\u00a0oblastech rozs\u00e1hl\u00fdch katastrof. Vyrobit borofen ale nebylo v\u016fbec snadn\u00e9. Nakonec se to povedlo v\u011bdc\u016fm laborato\u0159\u00ed Argonne National Laboratory, Severoz\u00e1padn\u00ed univerzity a Univerzity Stony Brook, kte\u0159\u00ed spojen\u00fdm \u00fasil\u00edm syntetizovali borofen napa\u0159ov\u00e1n\u00edm atom\u016f b\u00f3ru na st\u0159\u00edbrn\u00fd substr\u00e1t za vysok\u00e9 teploty ve vakuu. U\u017e po\u010d\u00e1te\u010dn\u00ed v\u00fdzkum borofenu ukazuje, \u017ee je velice slibn\u00fd a \u017ee by mohl v\u00a0n\u011bkter\u00fdch supervlastnostech\u00a0p\u0159ekonat samotn\u00fd grafen, nap\u0159\u00edklad ve vodivosti. Na Case Western Reserve University vyvinuli levn\u00e9 nano\u010d\u00e1stice z\u00a0ne\u0161kodn\u00fdch rostlinn\u00fdch vir\u016f, kter\u00e9 po vp\u00edchnut\u00ed do n\u00e1doru dovedou imunitn\u00ed syst\u00e9m jakoby z\u00e1zrakem probudit a p\u0159esv\u011bd\u010dit ho, \u017ee by m\u011bl proti n\u00e1doru za\u00fato\u010dit. Nejenom \u017ee imunita n\u00e1dor zni\u010d\u00ed, tak\u00e9 je\u0161t\u011b ochr\u00e1n\u00ed cel\u00e9 t\u011blo p\u0159ed metast\u00e1zami. Mohou se nab\u00edt a vyb\u00edt neuv\u011b\u0159iteln\u011b\u00a0rychle, z\u00e1rove\u0148 ale obvykle pojmou m\u00e9n\u011b elektrick\u00e9ho n\u00e1boje. \u010c\u00edn\u0161t\u00ed v\u00fdvoj\u00e1\u0159i ned\u00e1vno dramaticky zv\u00fd\u0161ili elektrickou kapacitu superkondenz\u00e1tor\u016f t\u00edm, \u017ee p\u0159i jejich v\u00fdrob\u011b pou\u017eili uhl\u00edkov\u00e9 nanotrubi\u010dky, obohacen\u00e9 atomy dus\u00edku. Jejich superkondenz\u00e1tory pojmou oproti t\u011bm dosavadn\u00edm t\u0159ikr\u00e1t v\u011bt\u0161\u00ed mno\u017estv\u00ed elektrick\u00e9ho n\u00e1boje.
